Visit Us in Downtown Washington
The Beaufort County Arts Council (BCAC) is located at 108 Gladden Street in historic downtown Washington, NC - just one block from the waterfront where those traveling by boat receive free docking on the Pamlico River.
The City of Washington provides space in the historic Atlantic Coastline Railway Depot for BCAC administrative offices and the Lane Gift Shop. The depot has been home for BCAC since the early 70's when it occupied a small space in the upstairs hallway. Today, the depot provides meeting space for a variety of arts organizations, a gift shop to showcase local artists and artisans, and gallery space in the Washington Civic Center. The Washington Civic Center gallery is occasionally closed for private functions. Patrons are advised to call the Arts Council in advance to verify exhibit hours.
The Lane Gift Shop
The Lane Gift Shop is located in what was the former passenger waiting room of the historic Atlantic Coastline Railway depot on the corner of Main and Gladden Streets in downtown Washington.
The Lane Gift Shop, named for founding members Louise & Harold Lane, was officially opened for business on October 11, 1987. Since that time, hundreds of local artists have been afforded the opportunity to show and sale their work to the public. A variety of original fine art pieces and craft items by local or regional artists can be found throughout the shop.
Gift shop hours are Tuesday - Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm and special events, such as the quarterly ArtWalk held the 2nd Thursday in February, May, August, and September from 6:00 - 9:00pm.
Artists of the Lane Gift Shop must be at least 18 years of age and be a member of the Beaufort County Arts Council. The Beaufort County Arts Council will retain a commission of 30% on all works sold.
For more information on how to show and sale your work, contact the arts council at 252.946.2504 during regular business hours or email email@example.com.
