Upcoming Events

The BCAC Box Office is open Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. The box office is open an hour and a half before each event start time for sales at the door. As of August 29th, BCAC will be selling tickets for select events at the box office and online via Vendini. Look for the "Buy Tickets Now" button accompanying certain shows. All events are at the Turnage Theater unless otherwise noted.

Saturday Nights @ 8:00pm

During the months of July - September, the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association & Beaufort County Arts Council will cooperatively present a series of local, grassroots, family-friendly entertainment at the Turnage Theater in downtown Washington. Tickets are available from the Turnage Theater box office and at the door. For each show, doors open at 7:00 pm and seating begins at 7:30 pm.

Pat Boyd & Bailey Phelps Exhibit
September 11 - October 9, 2014

The Beaufort County Arts Council will present an exhibit of new works by artists Pat Boyd and Bailey Phelps September 11 - October 9 at the BCAC Gallery at the Turnage Theatre. The exhibit will open with a reception on Thursday, September 11, from 5:30-7:00pm, and the public is invited.

Passion: A Salon
October 4, 2014
8:00pm

Something completely different - a 21st Century artists salon! An evening of music, dance, theatre, poetry and song - featuring the uptempo Nueva Latina sounds of Ed Stephenson and the Paco Band, Flamenco, and Modern Dance, songs by Broadway veteran Lori Mahl, and dueling poets Anna Weaver and Ben Molini. The evening will be hosted by Anita Woodley, in character as the 100-year-old Grandma from her solo show Mama Juggs, and Beverly Fields Burnette, recreating Zora Neale Hurston. Audience participation is encouraged!

BCAC's 50th Annual Fine Arts Show
October 16 - 18, 2014

BCAC’s 50th Annual Juried Fine Arts Show will open to the public on Thursday, October 16. The show will feature over 400 works by approximately 200 artists in a variety of mediums. The show will be open free to the public through October 18 from 9am – 5pm in the Washington Civic Center on Gladden Street in historic downtown Washington.

Fall 2014 MAINSTAGE Series
September - December 2014

The Beaufort County Arts Council will begin its inaugural 2014 Fall MainStage Series in September at the Turnage Theatre. The series is one of two that the arts council plans to present annually - in the Fall and Spring. “I have been working on assembling these shows since before we moved to the Turnage”, says Joey Toler, executive director of BCAC. “I hope we have put together a series that has broad appeal to a variety of potential audience members.”

Rock For Human Rights Fall Tour 2014

Rock for Human Rights (R4HR) was launched with the intent to bring human rights awareness to diverse audiences using the power of music, visual media, and social networking. R4HRʼs national tour will target audiences across the United States with a series of concerts, featuring live music from R4HR founder and accomplished musician Wil Seabrook as well as Alexio Kawara, Zimbabweʼs #1 music artist. Sonic Escape

Sonic Escape is a flute-violin- cello trio of Juilliard graduates that uses every part of the performer - fingers, mind, voice & story - to reshape the live music experience. The virtuoso members have traveled the world in roles as diverse as soloing at Carnegie Hall, fiddle- dancing in Riverdance, jam- ming with Beale Street blues bands and playing rock clubs across NYC. Whether Sonic Escape is performing one of their ground-breaking original works, a folk arrangement or a classical masterpiece, they share with audiences as though it's the last note they'll ever play for the best friend they'll ever make!

These events anchor a varied and constantly growing program encompassing all the arts: music, dance, theater, etc., and our yearly fall Fine Arts Show brings the work of renowned artists hailing from all corners of the Southeast to Beaufort County's gallery go-ers.
